What
is Children’s Outreach?
Our Children’s Outreach
program began in the summer of 2000 with the purchase of
our “Big Red Trailer.” This trailer has a fold down
side that turns into a stage, a full sound system and a
puppet stage, as well as storage for games and prizes.
Our program takes Sunday School to underprivileged
children in Harrisonburg who might not otherwise ever be
exposed to the gospel of Jesus.
On the 2nd Saturday of
every month, from April through November this trailer is
taken to two locations. One is a vacant lot on East Gay
Street, the other is in the circle at Harris Gardens
Apartments. Once the trailer is set up by our Outreach
Team Members, the fun begins. Our team members share
with the children in prayer, a time of high energy
Praise and Worship, games and prizes and a brief, simple
message.

Our
Mission Statement
Our common goal and purpose as a team is to bring the
children of the city into the Kingdom, to love, train
and nurture them in a way of life as they learn to walk
with the Lord. We aspire to train and nurture them to
minister in the power of the Holy Spirit in service, to
the body of Christ with fullness of joy.

Our
Purpose
Our ultimate purpose is to provide
the children, youth and adults of this city the means to
find salvation through Jesus Christ.

Our
Objective
Our objective is to see families
and neighborhoods changed as we reach children through
the power of outreach and personal follow-up.

Our
Vision
Our vision is to see leaders,
teachers, and pastors raise up out of the streets of the
city. Then, they in turn will minister to the next
generation.

How
Can I Plug In?
Our Outreach Team is always in need of dedicated
volunteers to help in the following areas.
-
Set up and tear
down (everyone participates in this)
-
Monitors (2-4
people needed)
-
Registration (2-4
people needed)
-
Sound
-
Drama
-
Puppets
-
Games
Of course if you are
unable to go out with us on Outreach day, you can still
be a part of this ministry by donating toys to be given
to the children as prizes. Please bring donations and
place then in the blue tub located in our sanctuary. We
ask that all toys be new, and that they aren’t related
to evil or violence.
If you are unable to
go out with us, or donate a toy, please pray for us–
that our ministry would have a lasting impact on the
lives of the children and their families.
